About this vintage design furniture
Low armchair from the 1960s by Dutch designer Gijs van der Sluis. The black lacquered metal frame, reupholstered in two-tone mottled gray and white wool. Gijs van der Sluis founded his own furniture design company "van der Sluis stalen meubelen" (van der Sluis steel furniture) in 1950, which remained active until 1990. Along with Martin Visser, Wim Rietveld and Friso Kramer, he is one of the most celebrated Dutch designers of the 20th century.

Gijs VAN DER SLUIS
Geert Van Der Sluis (1941-2008) was a Dutch designer specializing in office furniture. He studied furniture design at the Groningen School of Art in the Netherlands, where he later taught for several years.
