About this vintage design furniture

This free-form stoneware vase is the work of the ceramist Annie Maume (1945). Descendant of a dynasty of potters from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, she is the wife of the late painter and ceramist Robert Héraud (1924-2010). In their workshop at l'Orme-aux-Loups, at the foot of the Sancerre hill, they worked together, she modelling, he perfecting the glazes. The skin of this vase-sculpture combines softness and roughness and the enamels compose a subtle variation on the patina of bronze. It is signed "Maume" on the base.
