Kurt Østervig is a Danish designer from the 20th century. He is renowned for is passion for wood.
He designed numerous remarkable pieces during the 1950s and the 1960s: tables, sideboards, chairs etc. There are quite particularly elegant, thanks to sober curves and thanks to use of the wood. Biography Kurt Østervig was born in Denmark in 1912. He trained as a shipbuilder in Odense. His passion for the wood brings him to work as designer for E. Knudsen, one of the most important furniture manufacture of time. In 1947, Østervig founded his own design studio. He designed numerous collection of furniture for ships, hotels, cinemas and retirement homes. His work interested the design lovers, so that some of his pieces have been exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art of New York.
