About this vintage design furniture

A rare and astonishing set of PP 203 chairs designed by Hans Wegner in 1969 and produced at that time. The set is in very good condition and over the last 40 years the oak wood has been treated with oil. It is almost impossible to obtain such a set from the late 1960s and early 1970s. The pp201pp203 combines the aesthetics of the minimal chair pp701 with the construction of the Chinese chair pp66, creating a new expression, where the strictly geometrically defined frame construction supports only the most careful use of those organic forms so characteristic of Wegner's work throughout the 1950s. pp201pp203 also marks one of the most important milestones in the close, lifelong partnership between Hans J. Wegner and PP Møbler. Until 1969, PP Møbler was more a free space for Wegner than a business partner. Although PP Møbler produced thousands of frames for the pp19 Teddy Bear chair, Wegner's relationship with PP Møbler was mainly based on his friendship with the PP family and craftsmen, and indeed the PP workshop provided the environment in which he conceived the ideas for many of his prototypes and experiments throughout the 1960s and up to the end of his career. In 1969, in addition to designing the pp201pp203, Wegner also designed the PP logo and encouraged PP Møbler to launch its own product line and sales department. Over the next 25 years, Wegner designed all of PP Møbler's sales and marketing material and placed his best and dearest new and previous designs with PP Møbler. The combined armrest and backrest of PP 203 are made of a steam bent solid wood piece and a carved solid wood piece with wenge details. These beauties will be shipped overseas insured in a custom made wooden crate. The cost of shipping is included in the crate.
