About this vintage design furniture
Large hexagonal Murano "Sommerso" glass vase by Alessandro Mandruzzato - Italy, 1960s. "Sommerso" is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which was very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer. Colours: red, yellow and clear. Dimensions: height: 22.5 cm; width: 6.5 cm; depth: 6.5 cm. Very good vintage condition, a manufacturing defect at the rim, not a chip (last picture).

Luigi Mandruzzato was a famous Italian designer who was born in 1926 and died in 2007. He began his career as a master glassmaker in Murano, an island near Venice, famous for its glass-blowing.
