About this vintage design furniture
The PH 5 is the most successful light of danish master Poul Henningsen The origins of this multi shade light was created in 1925 when it was presented at the Paris world fair. For this reason it was first nick named "Paris". Henningsen applied the principles of this lamp for the rest of his career. In 1958 it had developed into the PH 5. Poul Henningsen had been busy with the mystery of light since he was 18. He had grown up in the soft glow of oil lamps and recoiled at the new culture of electric lamps and blinding light. It led to research seeking harmony in lighting. The result was a multi-shade lamp, or a glare-free shade consisting of several parts whose size, shape and position were designed to affect the distribution and volume of light. This color combination of the PH 5 in matte cream white, red, blue and purple came out in the 1980s. It is in good condition but with a few minor signs of use. Standard E27 light bulb socket and original textile cable.
