About this vintage design furniture
A very rare version of the H -214 dining chair designed by Jindrich Halabala and produced by UP Brno. Jindrich Halabala designed the dining chair officially classified as model H-214. These chairs were immediately popular and were nicknamed "lollipop chair" due to the shape of the backs. The H-214 chairs were produced by UP Brno since the 1930s and were produced in different fabrics and with different wood finishes and colors until the late 1950s. However, finding the H-214 chair with these armrests is very special. It is not known if this model was a limited edition, a custom project for a private client or a prototype. The size of the chair is also slightly larger and more comfortable than the standard H-214 model. The chair is made of oak and the curved arms are made of beech. This piece was recently completely refurbished to its former glory. Our experienced craftsman took the restoration to the highest level, using French polishing technique and Shellac varnish to hand finish the entire piece. The damaged fabric was replaced with new. The internal upholstery of the seats was repaired to the original. The springs were straightened and the cushion was filled with African grass, as it was at the time.
