About this vintage design furniture

Comfortable re-upholstered rare 1958 midcentury club lounge chair by Dutch designer Theo Ruth for Artifort. At that time in limited edition produced and now an unique collectable. Original nickel plated legs and framework, with a new spiral deck in the seating and re-upholstered in an excellent quality soft Ploegwool (no.80 and no.92). Lovely double-stitched seam detail on the armrests. Theo Ruth (1915-1971) can be seen as the innovator of design production at Dutch furniture company Artifort. In 1936 he joined the company as a skilled cabinetmaker, but just 3 years later he became head of design and development. Through the guidance and dedication of Theo Ruth, iconic designs of Paulin and Harcourt (among others) were implemented and produced. Seat height is 38 cm.
