About this vintage design furniture
This incredibly comfortable chair is iconic and therefore has a history. In creating the Flag Halyard armchair, Hans Wegner paid homage to the modernists Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer, proving at the same time that he was also a master in the use of steel. Despite this infidelity to wood, his favourite material, the Flag Halyard armchair has a very Wegnerian style. The flat surfaces are made using a single, long halyard ("halyard"), 240 metres long, covered with a long-haired sheepskin that softens - and in a way contradicts - the industrial coldness of steel. The halyard is made of natural linen braided around a core strong enough to avoid stretching over time. A talented worker does the braiding in about 14 hours. Designer: Hans Wegner. Publisher: PP Mobler. Origin: Denmark Period: 2006. Condition : Very good condition. Dimensions : W : 104 cm - D : 115 cm - H : 80 cm (at the highest) 38 cm at the lowest. Material : Polished stainless steel, Leather, linen rope and Sheepskin.
