About this vintage design furniture
This leather three-seater sofa was designed by Kurt Østervig for the Danish manufacturer Centrum Møbler during the 1950s. It is model 55 from early production time. The sofa is upholstered in black leather with a natural patina. The legs are made of solid rosewood. The sofa has elegant, simple form. The soft seat cushions and backrests ensure comfortable using. Profiled armrests create a sublime character. This piece is perfect for the stylish living room. Kurt Østervig began his career as a naval architect in Odense, Denmark. Then, before he opened his own studio in 1947, Østervig worked for producer E. Knudsen. Until the end of his career, he worked as a freelance designer collaborating with many Danish furniture brands. Today, Østervig’s designs are still made by five manufacturers, but his Mid-Century Modern productions are the most popular, with high prices at auctions and international galleries. The sofa is in original vintage condition with traces of age, scratches, scrapes, cracks and a natural patina. Invisible upholstery under cushions with damages.
