Dramatic and powerful vintage hunting sculpture by Lhota, Czechoslovakia 1960
About this vintage design furniture
This is a must-have item for any lover of the Czechoslovakian era. The hunting statue shows a deer being hunted by three dogs. It is very dramatic and powerful with beautiful details. The statue was a very typical decoration for the houses of the upper class in communist Czechoslovakia. And it is still well known to the inhabitants of the country. It was designed and signed by Lhota. The statue is made of creamy white glazed gypsum. It is in good condition but shows some signs of age and use. The glaze shows some signs of age on some parts, a small antler is lost and another one has been glued (photos). However, all these defects are only visible upon close examination. The statue is so beautiful that the wear does not really demolish its beauty.
