About this vintage design furniture
Large and rare spherical suspension model by John and Sylvia Reid from the 1960s made of cellulose acetate sprinkled with innumerable small pieces of lucite, very nice soft and diffusing light, it gives a very good and soft lighting with a nice amber colour. very good condition, A great design luminaire perfect for a living room or bedroom. In 1953, the British company Rotaflex was founded by Bernard Stern, a painter turned industrialist, who commissioned John and Sylvia Reid to design lamps that received several awards. In addition to spun cellulose acetate, John and Sylvia Reid expanded the range with the "Christals" series, consisting of cellulose acetate sprinkled with countless small pieces of lucite.
