Pair of vintage brown bakelite bolide lamps by Lucidus Bloc for Gustav Miklos, 1945
About this vintage design furniture
Bolide Lamp, Circa 1945The Lucidus Bloc desk lamp commissioned in 1945 from sculptor Gustav Miklos by the Jumo brand. Watch out, masterpiece An enigmatic creature at the crossroads of machinist and primitive cultures, this streamlined lamp with its pagan beauty seems to be born from the crossing of a locomotive and a slug ready to bite.... Its creators Yves Jujeau and Pierre Mounique created the company JUMO (Assemblage of the first two letters of each name) in Bagnolet (France) in the 1940s with the model "Bolide" in bakelite. Jumo is a wide range of lighting fixtures, mainly for offices but also for workshops. Although none of them is identifiable by its name ( ) (except the Bolide), they are however well recognizable by their design evolving with the fashions. Some models were designed, or used by great designers; Eileen Gray or Charlotte Perriand etc.
