About this vintage design furniture

Set of four dining chairs model 5502 designed by Rudolf Wolf and produced by Dutch company Elsrijk in the 1950s. The chair’s frames are made of lackered steel. The chairs have been reupholstered in a graphic patterned fabric. Wolf was a Dutch architect and sculptor. After having worked for Philips for a while, he started designing furniture, mostly chairs, for various furniture producers including ’Elsrijk Meubelen’. Rudolf Wolf as a designer was very much inspired by Bauhaus and Japanese living culture. Wolf is seen as one of the greatest industrial designers of the Netherlands, together with names as Wim Rietveld, Friso Kramer and Kho Liang Le, Wolf being mostly known for his chairs.

Rudolf WOLF

Rudolf WOLF was a German designer, born in 1886 and died in 1962. He studied at the Munich School of Arts and Crafts and worked as an industrial designer for several companies in Germany, including the Rosenthal porcelain company.
