About this vintage design furniture
A Mid Century wooden magazine rack that dates back to the late 1950s and was designed and produced by Krasna Jizba in former Czechoslovakia. Krasna jizba was one of the most important Czech design institutions, working with leading Czech artists and designers. Many famous names contributed with their work during the first half of the 20th century - Ladislav Sutnar, Antonín Kybal, Josef Sudek to name a few. Krasna Jizba functioned as a platform for applying the principles of modernism and enforcing high standards for the quality of industrial production. This piece represents perfectly the approach of designers and artists at Krasna Jizba. It is well made, minimalist, functional and with an attention to every detail. The beauty of this magazine rack is in the sculptural quality of the form, exemplified in the simple and “light” form of every wooden element. The magazine rack is in great original condition with only minimal wear and tear.
