Hans Moltke was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1920. He studied architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1944. Ib Friis was born in 1928, also in Copenhagen. He studied architecture at the Royal Danish School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1950. Friis had a particular sensibility for industrial design and was known for his ability to create products that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Together, Moltke and Friis developed a distinctive style that combined clean, minimalist lines with high-quality materials. Their approach to design focused on functionality, simplicity and timeless aesthetics. They worked on a wide range of projects, from furniture and appliances to buildings and public spaces.

Friis & Moltke enjoyed great success in the 1960s and 1970s, and their designs were widely recognized and awarded, including prizes such as the Danish Industrial Design Award and the International Design Award of the City of Milan.

Over the years, Friis & Moltke has continued to develop and collaborate with other renowned designers and architects. The firm has left a lasting imprint on Danish design, and its influence continues to be felt today.

Although the firm's founders have retired, Friis & Moltke is still active and led by a new generation of talented designers who continue the legacy of their predecessors while bringing new ideas and perspectives to the field of design.
