About this vintage design furniture
A fabulous Mid-century Modern teak desk by Heal’s, made in-house by cabinetmaker Robert Heal. Heal’s craftsmen have always been specialists in their field, and their high-quality workmanship is renowned. Clean, simple and stylish in design, the desktop has its original dark brown leather panel for working at. The desk carries a ’Made By Heal’s’ badge and is in original vintage condition, simply cleaned and polished. Heal’s first opened its London doors in 1810, and began a centuries-long journey in design and retail. By the 1950s, Christopher Heal became design director, with his brother, Anthony, appointed chairman soon after. Due to the vision and energy of its employees this kick-started a new boom period for Heal’s, new styles such as Mid-century Modern and Scandinavian design, which continued long into the 1960s.
