About this vintage design furniture
This surprisingly organic Pernilla Easy Chair was designed by Bruno Mathsson and produced by Karl Mathsson AB in Värnamo, Sweden. The seating surface consists of woven straps suspended between a steam-curved beechwood frame. The frame is stamped with the manufacturer's trademark "Bruno Mathsson Design, Made in Sweden", as well as two period labels, one of which dates the chair back to 1944. This chair is in its original condition. In 1944 Mathsson created the first of what would later be called the Pernilla line of chairs. It was similar to the Miranda Chair of 1941, but here Mathsson abandoned the waterfall front and made the chair end like a ramp. He also moved the centre of gravity of the person sitting down, as can be seen on this chair.
