About this vintage design furniture

This famous armchair was designed by J. Smidek - one of the most famous furniture designers in Europe. Produced in the 60’s in the Czechoslovak TON factory - one of the oldest bentwood furniture factories in the world. The armchair has undergone a thorough renovation - taking into account all details and standards of the original. The wooden frame has been splitted into the first parts in order to eliminate the gaps created at the joints due to the passage of time and to eliminate mobility due to the crumbling of glue. The next step was to remove old layers of paint and varnish. Finally, the frame was glued together again and painted with teak satin paint. The seat was also dismantled from old layers of material, foam and belts. Reinforcement has been added using medium-hard foam, strips and sheep. At the very end, the seat was upholstered in a beautiful, damage resistant and hydrophobic yellow fabric. You can also make your own changes to the wood finish and the type of fabric.
