About this vintage design furniture
The Plexus chair series was designed by Illum Wikkelsø in the 1960s and produced by CFC Silkeborg in Denmark. The chairs are in good condition and feature a mahogany frame and fabric upholstery. The Plexus series is designed to be disassembled, making it easy to combine, for example, two Plexus chairs to make a sofa, for storage, or for shipping.Like all our upholstered items, the chairs can also be reupholstered to your wishes within two weeks of your order.Kristian Illum Wikkelsø was a Danish furniture designer, who belonged to the generation of Danish designers, among them Hans j. Wegner, Finn Juhl, Kai Kristiansen and many others who made Danish design a global brand in the 1950s and 1960s. He was a carpenter's apprentice until 1938, and then was admitted to the Copenhagen School of Art, from which he graduated in 1941. After working for years as an employee, first with Jacob Kjær and then with partners Peter Hvidt and Orla Mølgaard, he started his own business in 1954. Many of his works have become classic design objects, among the best known are his rocking chair and armchair model V11.An important partner was C. F. Christensen, Silkeborg, for whom he designed the PLexus series and other light comfort chairs.DimensionsHeight: 25.6 in. (65 cm)Width: 29.14 in. (74 cm)Depth: 24.02 in. (61 cm)Seat height: 15.75 in.
