Vintage armchair Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno Italy 1960

An easy and attractive chaise longue designed by Osvaldo Borsani, manufactured by Tecno in Italy around 1960. This beautiful chair has a fantastic style: the frame is made of rectangular black lacquered metal, combined with the square cushions, which creates a very modern look. The curved dark brown wooden armrests form a nice contrast. This gives the modern style a nice touch of elegance. The cushions are newly upholstered in a beautiful teal blue fabric, which harmonizes perfectly with the rest of the design. It remains in very good condition, period, with minor wear corresponding to age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Seat height 35cm. Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985) Born in Varedo, near Milan, Italy. He studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. After graduating, he joined the family business, Atelier Varedo, as a furniture designer. In 1953, he joined forces with fellow designer Fulgencio to form a new company called Tecno, which became famous for its technological approach to research-based furniture design. The Tecno organisation became one of Europe's most influential design companies, developing new and innovative approaches to municipal buildings and offices. Osvaldo was the company's sole designer for over 30 years, until in the 1980s other designers such as Gae Aulenti, Norman Foster and others began to contribute to the company. Borsani's creations were celebrated and exhibited in museums and galleries around the world. In 1961, he was awarded the prestigious "Premio Compasso d'Oro" in honour of all his achievements.
