Giancarlo Piretti is a designer who deeply marked the history of Italian design. He developped an innovative approach to seats creation (chairs, low chairs…).
As a prolific designer with a great creativity, he designed several iconic pieces of furniture: the “Alky” low chair (1969), the “Plia” chair (1969) and the “Plona” seat (1970). His “Piretti Collection” line presented in 1988 at the NeoCon in Chicago is really incredible. Biography Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna in 1940. He studied at the Instituto Statale d’Arte then he worked as an interior designer for Anonima Castelli and created several furniture lines. The beginning of a long collaboration; more than twelve years! Piretti worked with great designers such as Emilio Ambasz at the end of the 1970s. They designed together the erconomic seats named Vertebra and Dorsal. During his career, the designer received many rewards for the Piretti Collection: the pizeces IBD, ASIS, Compasso d’Oro and G-Mark.
