About this vintage design furniture
Elegant sideboard typical of pieces coming from high end workshops in France during the 1950s and 1960s. The design is rooted in the pre-war Art Deco style but obviously influenced by the pared down designs coming from Scandinavia in the 1950s. The exterior of the piece features wonderful book-matched veneers enclosed by boxwood stringing, two pairs of opening doors, both lockable, open to reveal a fully lacquered pale birch interior, the left side with a single shelf and the right with two drawers and a shelf. The sideboard proudly wears the French NF Ameublement quality control badge on the inside of the RH door. Condition is excellent, the top having been protected by a sheet of glass (no longer present) with only a couple of lacquer bruises present to the doors. There is some evidence of fading suggesting it has been near a window as it is very slightly lighter from one side to the other but is so gradual it is difficult to see. It is fully dismountable for ease of moving.
