Mid century floating Royal System wall unit and shelving set Poul Cadovius Danish

A Danish Mid century Modern Royal System floating wall and shelving set designed by Poul Cadovius for Cado. This is a very adaptable set as it comprises 4 wall support ‘strings’ so you can either spread the units and shelves out over a larger space with 4 strings, or if you have a smaller space, you can use 3 strings for a more compact arrangement. This set dates from the early 1960’s and is in very good vintage condition with just a few marks here and there commensurate with age. It features beautifully figured wood grain and comprises a drinks cabinet with two integral draws, the original wine rack and original heart shaped Cado key, plus a writing desk with a hinged top and a storage cabinet with sliding doors, two integral draws and shelf, and five shelves. The Cado Royal System has become an icon of outstanding Danish Mid Century design and has spawned many imitations. However, non really compare to Poul Cadovius’ original design that features beautiful detailing in the jointing of the draws and cabinets as well as his signature angled drawer fronts. It’s adaptability is also another feature as each unit or draw is supported on simple wooden pegs using gravity to hold them in position against the wooden string. On this basis they can be simply lifted up and out and therefore positioned in numerous ways and at different heights to suit your space and your requirements.
