He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 1941, and immediately afterwards was commissioned by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create frescoes in Montenegro.In the late 1940s he designed glass objects for Peggy Guggenheim and during his career received numerous design and art awards in Bergamo, Cremona, Suzzara, and at the Exhibition of Engravings in Rome.Brotto collaborated with the Murano glass factory Esperia during the 1960s and 1970s and became a glass designer capturing the essence of Time, creating joyful and modern forms, breaking with the tradition of Murano glass. He won numerous awards for his designs.
