Terence CONRAN

Born on October 4, 1931 in Kingston upon Thames, England, Terence Orby Conran developed an early interest in craftsmanship and design. After studying at London's Central School of Art and Design, he worked briefly in the textile industry before moving into interior design.

In 1964, Terence Conran founded the Habitat store in London, which quickly became a benchmark for contemporary furniture and accessories. He introduced a modern, accessible lifestyle, combining elements of functional and aesthetic design. The concept was a great success and paved the way for a new approach to interior design.

Over the following decades, Terence Conran continued to influence the world of design through his many projects. He founded the interior design group Conran Design Group and created several other successful brands, including The Conran Shop, which offers furniture, lighting and design objects.

Terence Conran has also played an important role in the revitalization of London's historic districts, including the creation of Butlers Wharf and the transformation of the former Bankside Power Station into Tate Modern, one of the world's most famous contemporary art museums.

As a prolific author, Terence Conran has written numerous books on design, architecture and interiors, sharing his knowledge and experience with a wide audience. He received numerous awards for his achievements in the field of design, and his influence continues to be felt in the world of decoration and design.

Terence Conran died on September 12, 2020 at the age of 88. His vision of modern design and his legacy of aesthetics and functionality live on, making him an icon of contemporary design.
