About this vintage design furniture
The 14th Thonet chair, invented by Michael Thonet, has been a guest in our homes for almost 160 years. Einstein and Picasso sat on it, and among many fans of this piece of furniture was the guru of modernism, Le Corbusier. "Never before has a better and more elegant design been created, an object that is just as carefully made and practical", he said enthusiastically. "Number 14 was also a pioneering project that implemented sustainable development. The first models were made in the town of Koryčanyn (today’s Czech Republic) from beechwood growing in the nearby forests. When demand increased and raw material had to be transported, Thonet reduced its carbon footprint by developing its own machines and tools. Unit price
