About this vintage design furniture
Mid-Century sofa designed by Gijs van der Sluis for Van der Sluis steel furniture in Culemborg (the Netherlands), 1960s. This sofa shows many similarities with the furniture of the Dutch designer Martin Visser for ‘t Spectrum. This sofa has been completely restored, because of that it is in very good condition again. It has been reupholstered with green “de Ploeg” fabric and new foam. The frame has been sanded and repainted (sprayed) black and the armrests have been repainted with clear paint. Due to the new black lacquer layer and the new green upholstery, this sofa is in very good condition again. Material: metal, wood, foam and fabric. Dimensions: h x w x d 74 x 165 x 72 cm and the seat height is 38 cm.

About the designer
Gijs VAN DER SLUIS
Geert Van Der Sluis (1941-2008) was a Dutch designer specializing in office furniture. He studied furniture design at the Groningen School of Art in the Netherlands, where he later taught for several years.
