About this vintage design furniture

An original rattan deckchair designed by architect Alan Fuchs and produced by ULUV in 1961 for an experimental housing project in Prague. The beauty of rattan lies in the sculptural quality of the shape, illustrated by this simple and "light" form which is supported by the steel frame of the four black legs. This experimental housing proposal was called Invalidovna and it was an ambitious project to house 4100 inhabitants in 1100 housing units. It was intended to present a new way of building - and living. All the apartments were offered fully furnished with furniture designed by the greatest architects of the time. The main ambition of this project in terms of interior design and furniture was to break with the mass production of the same type of furniture and to offer more individual solutions to each buyer. The deckchair is in its original, period condition with minimal wear and tear.
