About this vintage design furniture

This is a beautiful example of radical Bauhaus design. Its form is inspired by tubular furniture designed by Marcel Breuer, especially his B -1 2 table produced by Thonet in Germany in the 1920’s. This console table is made up of two shelves and continuous tubular steel. The concept for Breuer’s tubular design was to make furniture that would match modern architecture, functional with light minimal detailing making the piece almost invisible. This table is a prime example of this approach and has become an icon. This particular model was produced by The Slezak (later Kovona) Company in former Czechoslovakia until the 1950’s. The wooden parts of the piece have been polished and are in very good vintage condition. There are some minimal wear and tear and also three small darker patches. Overall the tubular frame is in very great condition with slight marks on the surface.
