About this vintage design furniture
Mid century modern Avarte experiment rocking chair by Yrjö Kukkapuro. Rare experiment rocking chair which back in the 1980s has been produced in a very small quantity and therefor almost impossible to come across. The chair is overall in great condition with a few rocking scuffs on the base. Measurements : H 76 x W 55 x D 81 cm. The chair will be shipped abroad in a custom-made crate. Yrjö Kukkapuro (born April 6, 1933) is a Finnish interior architect and furniture designer. His career started in the 1950s while studying in the Academy of Design in Helsinki. Kukkapuro’s most famous model is called Karuselli (carousel) and it belongs to the collection of major museums including the Museum of Modern Art, New York. It was also nominated as the most comfortable chair in the world by The New York Times in 1974.

About the designer
Yrjö KUKKAPURO
Yrjö Kukkapuro is a Finnish designer born in 1933. He studied at the Helsinki Institute of Industrial Art and began his career working for the Haimi furniture company in 1959. In 1964, he set up his own design studio, Studio Kukkapuro, where he designed functional and innovative furniture that won several international awards.
