Vintage pendant lamp "Cylindus" by Uno and Östen Kristiansson for Luxus, Sweden 1970

Cylindus is a two-tone suspension light made of thick frosted plastic. Very well constructed and with a nice shine, it illuminates the entire room evenly using a single bulb. Good downward light projection as well as a wide soft diffusion up and to the sides. This light comes in many color variations of the center ring. In this case, brown. Some marks and scratches on the surface as seen in the photos. But no breaks or cracks. The surface damage on this one reflects well in the price. The brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson had the legendary Swedish designer lighting company Luxus in the 60s and 70s. Diameter 35 cm, height 25 cm. Standard bulb E27.The Swedish lighting and furniture manufacturer Luxus was founded by Uno Kristiansson around 1950 in the town of Vittsjö. Renaming and running his father's production company, Vittsjö Möbelfabrik AB, from 1966, it is believed that Uno's brother Östen quickly merged the two companies, when it became simply Luxus.In 1968, Luxus introduced a collection of lamps with brightly colored textile shades, which according to some sources were designed by the famous Finnish textile artist Marjatta Metsovaara (1927-2014). However, most of Luxus' products were designed in-house by Uno and Östen. Like many of their Scandinavian contemporaries, the Kristiansson brothers preferred teak but did not hesitate to use glass, leather, plastic and acrylic.
