Dimensions : Width: 48 cm Seat depth: 39 cm Seat height: 45 cm Total height: 75 cm Weight: 4.70kg Designer: Robin Day and Hille Materials: Fabrics, polypropylene, chrome-plated tubular metal Signature : Robin Day and Hille made in Britain The first polypropylene chair designed by Robin Day was launched in 1963 after three years of development work. Polypropylene was invented in 1954 but had never been used in the furniture industry before. Robin Day and Hille have developed seats using this new durable and economical material in collaboration with the British petrochemical company Shell. Robin Day's concept included key elements such as hidden fasteners using an integral mounting boss, a fully rolled edge to add strength and a range of bases that gave the chair the ability to appeal to a multitude of markets.
