Hans BRATTRUD

Brattrud studied at the Norwegian School of Craft and Design, where he specialized in furniture design. He then graduated as an interior architect from the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs in Paris.

In 1957, Brattrud designed the "Scandia" chair, which quickly became an international success and an iconic symbol of modern Scandinavian design. The chair was revolutionary at the time, combining sleek aesthetics with ergonomic comfort. It was made from molded plywood and had an organic shape that hugged the contours of the body.

The "Scandia" chair won numerous awards and was exhibited in museums and galleries around the world. It has become a sought-after collector's item for design enthusiasts. The chair's success enabled Brattrud to found his own design company, which continued to produce elegant, functional furniture.
