Jorgen BAEKMARK

Baekmark studied interior architecture and carpentry at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. He began his career working as a store designer for the Danish store chain Magasin.

In 1961, Baekmark joined FDB Møbler as chief designer. During his tenure, he created many popular pieces of furniture, such as the J77 and J80 chairs, which are still manufactured today. Baekmark was known for his minimalist, functional approach to design, as well as his judicious use of materials, such as oak and teak.

During his career, Baekmark won numerous awards and distinctions, including the ID prize from the Danish Society of Designers in 1966 and the prestigious Copenhagen City Design Award in 1973.

Today, Baekmark's creations are still highly sought-after and are considered classics of Danish design.
